Vincent Aboubakar has been linked with Newcastle United and Swansea City this summer but is there a chance of a move to Southampton?

With just over a week remaining until the transfer window shuts, Vincent Aboubakar is still a Porto player.
However, with Southampton sending scouts to watch the Portuguese giants in action at the weekend, they will no doubt have been impressed by the Cameroon hitman.
Fresh from notching the winner in a tight victory at Tondela the week earlier, Aboubakar took his form to another level as Porto welcomed Moreirense to the Estadio do Dragao, netting a clinical hat-trick to take his seasonal tally to four goals in three games.

And, according to Record (22nd August, page 18), scouts from Premier League duo Southampton and Leicester City were in attendance, though it is not clear who they were watching.
Yet, although The Saints finally ended their run of 576 minutes without a goal in front of their home supporters when Manolo Gabbiadini set them on their way to a thrilling 3-2 win over West Ham United at St Mary’s on Saturday, you wonder whether they would be enticed by the prospect of adding another striker to their ranks.
After all, Gabbiadini (below) and Charlie Austin, who netted the 93rd minute winner from the penalty spot, both struggled with injuries last season and The Saints looked positively toothless in their absence.

Furthermore, with Sam Gallagher joining Birmingham City on a season-long loan, there’s certainly enough room in Mauricio Pellegrino’s squad for another goalscorer.
The question, however, is whether Aboubakar’s performance will tempt them to move for a striker who spent last season on loan at Besiktas and has been linked with a move to the Premier League regularly over the last few months.
