The Tottenham Hotspur pair are wanted in the Chinese Super League by their former boss.

According to a report from the London Evening Standard, former Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas wants to bring Spurs duo Harry Kane and Danny Rose to his current club Shanghai SIPG.

Kane has already dismissed the possibility of moving to China at this stage of his career, and it is claimed that any move for Rose is also unlikely to succeed, but it seems Villas-Boas had been keen to raid his former club.

The Standard reports that intermediaries contacted Kane’s representatives to sound out his willingness, or otherwise, to move to China, and they received a swift response prior to any discussions regarding potential wages.

The Chinese Super League has untold riches and is luring a number of high profile players to the country.

But given Tottenham’s resurgence under current manager Mauricio Pochettino and the importance of Kane and Rose to their future, Villas-Boas was always likely to fail.

It does make for interesting reading though, and suggests this is not the last we have heard of Chinese clubs flexing their financial muscles in a bid to sign the great and the good from the Premier League.
