As per a report by Graeme Bailey of 90 Min, Villareal will demand a club record fee in excess of £40 million to sanction the sale of Aston Villa target Pau Torres.
90 Min had just recently reported that the La Liga giants would sell the Spanish international for a minimum fee of £40 million, with Wolves joining Unai Emery’s side in the race to sign him.
However, it has been mentioned that since the Yellow Submarine have reached a conclusion that considering they are set to lose their talismanic centre-back, the club will only let him depart their ranks for a record fee.
Further details suggest that the Spanish club will not demand Villa, or any suitor in question to pay the full £55 million release clause to sign the elegant defender.
However, the report states that Pau Torres could well leave the club as soon as in January.
Furthermore, Emery is keen on the arrival of Torres, who he believes is perfectly suited to the Premier League.

Pau Torres’ intelligent reading of the game and incredible composure, both on the ball and in defensive situations makes him perhaps the polar opposite of the 29-year-old as well.
