Orjan Nyland will be allowed to leave Aston Villa this summer, the Express and Star say.

Villa are closing in on a deal to sign Emiliano Martinez, which will see Nyland move towards the exit door.

Nyland played a sizeable amount of games for Villa last term after Tom Heaton picked up an injury, but he failed to convince.

The Norwegian now looks likely to lose his place at Villa, if they can find a buyer for him.

Nyland, who was once described as ‘fantastic’ by Villa goalkeeper coach Neil Cutler (AVTV), is yet to really attract much interest but teams will surely be alerted to his availability now.

If Villa are to lose Nyland they will still be well stocked in goal, following Martinez’s arrival.

As well as the new boy, Villa will still have Tom Heaton and Jed Steer in their ranks.
