Aston Villa are interested in signing Omar Colley from Sampdoria, according to Il Secolo XIX.

Colley is attracting the attentions of a number of Premier League clubs, with Villa the latest to join the queue for the central defender.

It seems that the 27-year-old could be on his way out of Sampdoria this summer, despite appearing regularly for the Serie A side last term.

Colley was in very impressive form over the previous campaign, and Tutto Mercato Web claimed that Southampton had lodged a bid of £16 million to sign him over the weekend.

Villa are now believed to be looking to compete with the Saints for his signature though, as they aim to bolster their backline.

Dean Smith’s side let in far too many goals last term, as they only narrowly avoided relegation.

And the thought is that Colley could seemingly be a strong partner for Tyrone Mings at the back next season.
