According to The Times, Leeds United have absolutely no intention of selling Kalvin Phillips this summer, despite reports claiming that Aston Villa are adamant about bringing him to the Midlands.

Villa have been linked with a mammoth £60m move for Phillips, but it seems as though Leeds do not have any plans to sell their talisman.

Instead, the Whites plan to offer the England international a new contract, and they are confident that he wants to stay.

Phillips has knocked Villa back once before, opting to stay at Leeds in the summer of 2019 just after the Villans’ promotion.

Leeds are confident that Phillips will stay, and to be honest, they probably should be. Phillips is a boyhood Whites supporter, and with the Yorkshire club once again looking to be on the up under Jesse Marsch, it’s hard to imagine the ‘unreal‘ midfielder jumping ship at this juncture.

Of course, the Elland Road outfit aren’t quite out of the woods yet when it comes to staving off the threat of relegation, but back to back wins have created a seven-point gap between Leeds and the bottom three, so a few more good results should seal their Premier League status going forward.

Unfortunately for Villa, it looks like Phillips won’t be linking up with Steven Gerrard this summer.

The Villans may have to re-evaluate their transfer plans.
