Aston Villa and West Brom are reportedly battling for Tyrone Mings.
According to the Daily Mail, Bournemouth defender Tyrone Mings may be free to join Aston Villa or West Bromwich Albion once Chris Mepham leaves Brentford.
The Cherries beat West Ham United 2-0 on Saturday afternoon, and may now be on the verge of securing a big-money signing this week.
Bournemouth have been linked with Brentford defender Mepham for some time now, and he missed Saturday’s game against Rotherham United ahead of a potential move.
The Daily Mail now report that Mepham is set to complete a £13million move to Bournemouth within days, and that is likely to free up Mings to move on.
It’s claimed that Mings leaving Bournemouth this month is partly dependent on Mepham signing, and a loan move is more likely once the Welsh international signs.
Mings, 25, is wanted by Aston Villa and West Bromwich Albion, and their hopes of signing the former Ipswich Town ace are set to be boosted.
Mings, who stands at a huge 6ft 5in, can play at centre back or left back, and has made just 19 appearances for Bournemouth since his 2015 move from Ipswich.
Mings would provide a major defensive boost to either Villa or West Brom, though Villa’s raft of loan signings already may put them in more of a bind than West Brom in this race.
