According to Eurosport, Patrick Vieira wants to bring Manchester City midfielder Claudio Gomes to Crystal Palace this summer.
Vieira is in as Palace boss after a lengthy search for Roy Hodgson’s successor, and he has already overseen one new signing with Michael Olise arriving from Reading.
The Frenchman is now allegedly asking Arsenal and Manchester City for potential signings, having played for the former and coached with the latter.
One player he is particularly keen on is midfielder Gomes, who has yet to make a Premier League appearance for City since his 2018 arrival from Paris Saint-Germain.
Gomes turns 21 later this month and needs playing time. He did spend the 2019-20 season with PSV Eindhoven, but only turned out for their B team.
It doesn’t look like Gomes will be breaking through at City any time soon, with teenager Romeo Lavia now moving ahead of him in the pecking order.

Gomes was once compared to Claude Makelele by France Football, but he needs first-team football away from City if he is to fulfil that potential.
Vieira played with Makelele for France so may see similarities between him and Gomes, and Palace could now strike with a move to sign the youngster this summer.
