Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Victor Wanyama is reportedly nearing a return.

According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Victor Wanyama is aiming to be available for selection for the game against Liverpool later this month.
Wanyama, 26, hasn’t played since the 2-1 defeat to Chelsea on the 20th of August, as he has been nursing a knee injury which initially kept him from facing Burnley, but has kept him out for much longer than that.
The Kenyan midfielder first suffered a knee injury in pre-season, and is believed to have aggravated that injury when playing against Newcastle and Chelsea to open the Premier League campaign.

Wanyama was such a key part of the Tottenham side last season, and whilst Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko have stepped up in recent weeks, fans have been keen to see Wanyama make his return.
Now, the Daily Mail report that Wanyama is stepping up his return from injury, and whilst he won’t be back for this weekend’s game against Bournemouth or next week’s Champions League clash with Real Madrid, he is aiming to play against Liverpool on the 22nd of October.
That would give manager Mauricio Pochettino a major boost in midfield, especially given the ongoing troubles for Mousa Dembele, and having such an important player back for a huge game will be huge for Spurs.

As we come out of the international break, this is just more good news for manager Pochettino. His side went into the break after a 4-0 win over Huddersfield Town, and the Spurs boss has seen Harry Kane continue his scoring form with two goals in two games for England.
Harry Winks made his England debut and flourished, whilst he likes of Hugo Lloris, Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen, Davinson Sanchez, Ben Davies and Dele Alli have so far made it through the break unscathed.
There is a huge amount of positivity around Tottenham right now, and Wanyama’s imminent return to action is just another plus point for manager Pochettino as he enters a series of huge games.
