But according to Leeds Live, fans need not worry about losing Roofe.
The English website claims that Leeds’ Director of Football Victor Orta is ‘very confident’ that he can tie the former Oxford United star down to a new deal.
As things stand, Roofe would be available to leave on a Bosman next summer but Orta believes that the Englishman will be extending his contract, according to Leeds Live.
If and when it happens, it’ll come as a massive relief to United fans.
Losing Roofe period would be disastrous, but to lose him on a free would be devastating on a footballing and financial level, an error that wouldn’t be forgiven for a long, long time.
He is out for the next three weeks with an ankle problem, which might spell the end of Rangers’ desire to sign him anyway, but Orta’s perceived confidence is a big reason to be cheerful for supporters.
