Crystal Palace are reportedly set to sign Victor Camarasa.
According to The Independent, Crystal Palace are set to sign playmaker Victor Camarasa on loan, with a €15million (£13.75million) purchase clause included.
The Eagles have been quiet in the transfer market this summer, only signing backup goalkeeper Stephen Henderson and loan striker Jordan Ayew permanently.
Despite receiving big money from Manchester United for Aaron Wan-Bissaka, it’s taken a while for Palace to get going – but they’re set for an exciting capture.
It’s believed that Real Betis playmaker Camarasa is all set to join Palace on a season-long loan, with a £13.75million obligation to buy him next summer.
Camarasa, 25, impressed on loan at Cardiff City last season, hitting five goals and four assists for the relegated Bluebirds before heading back to Betis.
Palace have often been criticised for a lack of creativity or guile, but Camarasa can bring that, and ease the burden on both Wilfried Zaha and Andros Townsend.
One interesting thing to note is that Camarasa played under former Eagles boss Neil Warnock last season, and he has admitted he’s played a part in the Spaniard’s next move.
Warnock, as quoted by Wales Online, claims Palace rang Cardiff up about Camarasa last week to talk about his qualities, and he gave the playmaker a ‘good reference’ to facilitate his move.
“They rang us up about him,” said Warnock. “What can we say, we were gutted, really, but we gave him a good reference,” he added.
