According to The Times, Harry Winks is looking to get away from Tottenham in January as the midfielder looks to secure a loan move.

Winks hasn’t been getting many opportunities at Spurs so far this season. He’s played a couple of times when he’s been needed due to injuries or red cards, but it’s rather obvious at this point that he’s surplus to requirements.

The emergence of Oliver Skipp and the fact that Tanguy Ndombele has worked his way back into Nuno’s plans has seen Winks drop even further down the pecking order after starting just nine league games last term, and now he’s looking for a move away.

Winks would reportedly be open to moving abroad, but after summer interest from the likes of Aston Villa and Everton, he may still have an escape route to another Premier League club.

Winks certainly has a point to prove. He’s not played for England for quite some time now even though he’s quite clearly rated by Gareth Southgate who described him as a ‘very good footballer’ back in 2019.

The midfielder shouldn’t find it too hard to find a move in January. Spurs don’t need him and he has a number of attributes that would make him a real asset for a number of clubs in the Premier League and throughout Europe.

It remains to be seen where Winks ends up, but we can only hope that he can follow in the footsteps of someone like Jesse Lingard and this loan move helps rejuvenate his career.
