Ismaila Sarr wants to play alongside his ‘hero’ Sadio Mane as he continues to be linked with a move to Liverpool.

The Evening Standard recently claimed that Watford will demand over £40 million for their star player as clubs such as Liverpool circle for his signature.

It is said that Sarr would be keen on an Anfield switch because it then allows him to play alongside his fellow Senegalese countryman, Mane, who he ‘often’ watches clips of on YouTube.

The Hornets, who were relegated to the Championship on the final day of the season, have put a pretty hefty price tag on their players head.

Jurgen Klopp is looking for depth to add to his Premier League title-winning squad, but it would be a surprise if he splashed such money on a player who wouldn’t be a regular starter.

Mane has proven that making that step up to Liverpool has more than worked, and the same could happen to Sarr, but that would still be a big risk.

When Mane first joined Liverpool, he jumped straight into the first-team and into a side that was yet to win the European Cup or the Premier League – the task is much tougher for Sarr.

Even if Sarr doesn’t join the English champions, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him play for a club in Europe next season such is his talents.

He can play across the front three, has lightning speed, comfortable with either foot and has great technique – that was proven when he netted a brace against the Reds last term.

As for Liverpool, there’s no doubt that Sarr would be a brilliant fit for them because of his ability to work in tight areas and the fact that he would bring some much-needed bite to their bench.

Either way, it looks as though this rumour may rumble on until there are only hours left in the window.
