According to The Scottish Sun, AEK Athens goalkeeper Vasilis Barkas wants a move to Celtic – but the Bhoys are £2.5million away from a deal.
It’s claimed that Celtic have opened talks over a deal to sign Barkas, with the Bhoys currently willing to pay £3.5million for him.
However, AEK want at least £6million for Barkas, meaning the Bhoys have a long way to go before striking a deal.
Barkas is described as being ‘keen’ to make the move to Scotland, but AEK are playing hardball with Celtic as things stand.
AEK even want a 20% sell-on clause in the deal, and still hold out some hope of forcing Celtic to pay as much as £7million – twice their current bid.
Celtic have allegedly been scouting Barkas since he impressed against them in Champions League qualifiers back in 2018.

Barkas, 26, was born in the Netherlands but represents Greece on the international stage, picking up 10 caps for his country.
An absolute giant at 6ft 5in tall, Barkas has now made more than 100 appearances for AEK and still has plenty of room to develop.
Celtic seemingly won’t manage to bring Fraser Forster back to the club, so they could add another huge stopper in Barkas to replace him – but there is plenty of work to be done.
