According to Marca, Valencia are keen on signing current Arsenal loanee Dani Ceballos this summer after failing with a move in January.

The Real Madrid player joined the Gunners on loan last summer.

He struggled to make an impact under former manager Unai Emery, prompting speculation over a potential move back to Spain in the January transfer window.

Marca claim Valencia were keen to take him. However, Arsenal had already paid to have Ceballos for the season, meaning a deal couldn’t be reached.

Under current boss Mikel Arteta, the former Spain U21 international has improved.

According to AS, Arsenal are interested in extending his loan at the Emirates Stadium.

Since the restart, Ceballos featured for 82 minutes at Manchester City while the injury to Granit Xhaka saw him start the 2-1 defeat at Premier League strugglers Brighton and Hove Albion.

Deployed in a deeper role, the 23-year-old has given Arteta food for thought.

But the latest reports from Spanish editorial Marca suggests he will return to Spain. Valencia, chasing a Champions League spot, may have a more prominent role for him.

If Arsenal want to retain the services of the Spanish midfielder, they may have to make their move quickly while both parties need to convince over the coming weeks.
