Mundo Deportivo report that Valencia are challenging Everton for Lozano’s signature, with suggestions that they want to land a player hwo looks set to star at this summer’s World Cup in Russia.

Rival interest from Valencia may be a blow for Everton, but they may just have a trump card in the race for the wing sensation; new director of football Marcel Brands.

Brands was the man who helped bring Lozano to PSV last summer, and following the Dutchman from Eindhoven to Goodison Park may be hugely appealing if it came down to a straight fight between the two clubs.

Valencia do have Champions League football to call upon, whereas Everton don’t have any European football at all, meaning the Toffees may be relying heavily upon Brands to sway the battle in their favour.
