Sandro Ramirez only signed for Everton in the summer but could be set to return to La Liga already.
If there was any Everton player who came out of Thursday’s 5-1 thrashing at home to Atalanta in the Europa League with any credit, it was Sandro Ramirez.
The seldom-seen Spaniard was back on the bench as The Toffees travelled to Southampton on Sunday, however, and was not given even a single second on the St Mary’s turf as Everton crashed to another humiliating defeat.
So far, Sandro has made just six Premier League appearances since joining on an apparent bargain fee of just £5.1 million from Malaga (The Independent). And since David Unsworth took charge in a caretaker capacity after the sacking of Ronald Koeman, the 22-year-old has featured for just 14 minutes in England’s top flight.
It will not surprise anyone to learn that Sandro is not exactly jumping for joy on Merseyside, then.
And Plaza Deportivo report that the former Barcelona youngster could be offered an immediate return to La Liga. High-flying Valencia are reportedly in talks to sign Sandro, who wants to leave Goodison Park to have any chance of forcing his way into Spain’s World Cup squad.
It is understood that Sandro is Los Che’s first-choice transfer target as they aim to find a back-up to the in-form Simone Zaza. The former West Ham flop has nine goals in 11 La Liga starts but has been playing through the pain barrier in recent weeks and now faces surgery.
But if Sandro can follow in Zaza’s footsteps and rediscover that golden touch at Valencia, there is no reason to believe he won’t be on that plane to Russia next year.
