Celtic’s deal for Vakoun Issouf Bayo still has one last hurdle to clear.
According to The Scottish Sun, Celtic’s hearing to gain a work permit for striker Vakoun Issouf Bayo takes place tomorrow as they look to clear the final hurdle.
The Bhoys needed attacking reinforcements during this month’s transfer window, and have struck three deals to boost Brendan Rodgers’ squad.
Oliver Burke and Timothy Weah have come in on loan from West Bromwich Albion and Paris Saint-Germain respectively, offering new firepower to Rodgers.
A deal for Dunajska Streda striker Bayo was secured last week, but there is one more hurdle to clear; landing a work permit for the Ivorian hitman.
The Scottish Sun report that Celtic will be attending a hearing on Tuesday to learn whether Bayo will receive permission to play in Scotland, which isn’t clear as he has only gained two senior caps for his country.
However, Celtic landed a work permit for another young Ivorian just two years ago, signing Eboue Kouassi on grounds that he would benefit the Scottish game as a top young talent – and Bayo will surely be a similar case.
Intriguingly, there is more news about Bayo today; the Daily Record report that Bayo has paid a fine of nearly £900 in order to escape carrying his ban from Slovakia to Scotland.
Bayo was recently given a suspension for striking an opponent, and with two games left to go on his ban, he has paid up in order to make himself available for Celtic immediately – if he gets that work permit.
The 22-year-old looks to be a promising acquisition, having hit 18 goals and seven assists in just 23 games so far this season.
