West Bromwich Albion are set to rival West Ham United for Jose Fonte.

According to a report in the Telegraph, West Ham United have cooled their interest in Brentford forward Scott Hogan.

Brentford have failed to budge from their £15 million asking price, and West Ham have doubts over doing a deal at that price.

The Hammers have offered a deal worth £11 million, but are keen not to overspend on the 24-year-old.

Bilic is believed to have some doubts about signing Hogan, due to his lack of top flight experience.

West Ham are believed to still be chasing Hull City’s Robert Snodgrass, but they are still some way away from completing any deal for the Scottish international.

The Hammers are closer to snapping up Jose Fonte from Southampton, but face competition from West Bromwich Albion.

The Baggies are also in advanced discussions to sign the Euro 2016 winner, and are keen to get a deal done.

In terms of departures, West Ham remain firmly of the belief that they do not want to sell Dimitri Payet.

Marseille are interested in Payet, but West Ham value him at £40 million and have reportedly said he will not be sold for less than that amount before the end of the season.
