Toby Alderweireld wants a pay rise at Tottenham Hotspur, but no new deal has been agreed yet.

According to a report in the Telegraph, Tottenham Hotspur are still optimistic at agreeing a new contract with Toby Alderweireld.

Spurs have been negotiating with Alderweireld over a new deal for some time, but the two parties are yet to agree terms.

The Sun suggest that Alderweireld wants to become the joint-highest earner at Tottenham alongside Harry Kane.

Kane is currently on £110,000-a-week, and Alderweireld reportedly feels he is deserving of an equal salary to Tottenham’s main striker.

Spurs have a strict wage policy in place, and they have not budged so far.

However, it is believed that Spurs are confident that they will be able to tie down Alderweireld for the long-term.

Alderweireld’s current contract at Tottenham runs until 2020, so there is no urgent rush to sort out a new deal just yet.

Alderweireld has played a key role for Spurs ever since he signed for the North London club, and he is expected to feature prominently for the Lilywhites again next season.
