Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld’s current contract at White Hart Lane is set to expire at the end of the season.

According to the Daily Star, Tottenham Hotspur could yet offer Toby Alderweireld a new contract.
It was widely expected that Alderweireld would leave Tottenham this summer, when news emerged that he had a £25 million release clause built into his contract.
However, that clause expires in a matter of days, which means that Tottenham may well keep the Belgian international for the season.
If he does stick around Pochettino is said to have been convinced that Alderweireld will not kick up a fuss over a move.
Tottenham are believed to be very relaxed about Alderweireld’s future now, and there is a real possibility that he could stay.

Spurs do not want to lose Alderweireld on a free next summer, so they could look to tie him down on a new contract, if he remains at the club after the transfer window.
Alderweireld is currently on a £80,000-a-week deal at Tottenham (Spotrac), and would likely command a sizeable pay rise if he was to stay around.
That news is sure to go down well with Tottenham supporters, who have been urging Pochettino to keep Alderweireld.
The 30-year-old is arguably Tottenham’s most integral defender, and if he did stick around at White Hart Lane it would be a huge boost to Spurs.
