Sunderland are said to be keen to snap up Morgan Fox from Sheffield Wednesday.

According to the Northern Echo, Sunderland boss Jack Ross believes that Sheffield Wednesday defender Morgan Fox would be the ‘ideal’ addition to his squad at the Stadium of Light.

Sunderland are working on a deal with Wednesday for the left-back, who they are keen to sign before the end of the month.

The Owls have already knocked back one of Sunderland’s offers for the full-back, but Ross’s side are set to make an improved bid.

Ross is reportedly very keen to see Fox brought to Sunderland, as he thinks the left-back could be perfect.

Ross wants more competition for places on the left hand side of his defence, as Denver Hume has made a difficult start to the campaign.

The move to Sunderland could appeal to Fox, who is not the most popular player at Wednesday.

Fox has often struggled at Championship level, but a move to League One could suit him.

Sunderland have started the season in confident fashion and are unbeaten over their first five games.

The Black Cats are still yet to taste defeat, and Fox’s arrival could help strengthen their bid for promotion.
