Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez has still not confirmed whether he will be at St. James’ Park next season.
Mike Ashley and Benitez met yesterday for showdown talks, as the Newcastle boss comes closer to making a decision on his future.
Benitez’s contract is set to expire soon, and he does not want to pen a new one at St. James’ Park before being given assurances by Ashley.
Benitez wants more money to spend on Newcastle’s squad and more freedom to target the players he wants.
Ashley has typically only wanted Newcastle to sign younger players with re-sale value, but Benitez feels that adding experience is crucial.
The pair are yet to agree terms for Benitez to stay, but it has been suggested that a compromise is set to be made.
The Mail think that Benitez will be staying at Newcastle, and if they are correct then the supporters at St. James’ Park are sure to be delighted.
