Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino was one of Real Madrid’s top targets to take over.

Madrid reportedly offered a sizeable fee and fringe players to Spurs in the hope of landing Pochettino, but Levy was determined to keep the Argentine boss around.
Pochettino has made great progress at Spurs, and has always said he wants to lead the side into their new stadium.
The Spurs boss had no desire to join Madrid mid-season, and the Spanish side have now realised there is no chance of convincing him to move.

Pochettino’s loyalty is great news for Spurs, as there was speculation over his future.
Pochettino had spoken of his frustrations at Spurs recently, which sparked suggestions that the Madrid job could appeal.
But the Tottenham boss will be around until the end of the season, at least, as he wants to see out the campaign with his current club.
