Sunderland midfielder Elliot Embleton could be set to leave the Stadium of Light this summer.
Sunderland loaned out Embleton to Grimsby Town last season, and the midfielder impressed at League Two level.
Jack Ross told the Chronicle back in April that he wanted to keep Embleton at Sunderland.
However, the youngster has still not penned a new deal at the Stadium of Light, and there are big concerns that he could leave now.
Embleton may well be looking for more first-team football than Sunderland can guarantee him.
The prospect clearly showed at League Two level that he is ready to play senior football, but whether he is capable of stepping up to Sunderland’s team is up for debate.
Sunderland are under pressure to earn promotion next term, and Ross would be taking a risk by putting an untested player into his starting line-up.
If Embleton does leave the Black Cats he is sure to have a huge number of suitors from across the Football League, after his impressive campaign last term.
