Tottenham defender is not optimistic.

Kieran Trippier is reportedly not optimistic about his chances of being fit for Tottenham’s opening Premier League game of the season.

Trippier was injured in Tottenham’s pre-season friendly against Juventus, and was pictured after the game on crutches.

It is claimed he is not feeling optimistic about making an instant recovery in time for the season kick-off, and the worst case scenario is that he faces ‘weeks’ on the sidelines.

Head coach Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly leaning towards selecting Eric Dier at right-back, ahead of Moussa Sissoko and Kyle Walker-Peters.

Spurs face a tricky opening game against Newcastle United at St James Park, a ground where they lost 5-1 last time they played.

Having had one of the most settled XI’s in recent years in the Premier League, suddenly having to scramble at right-back is far from ideal, and a direct repercussion of the decision to sell Kyle Walker to Manchester City.
