Former Aston Villa midfielder Jordan Veretout is thriving in Italy.

Aston Villa fans have seen a number of players from their 2015-16 relegation season go on to better things – and another is set for a shock career turn.
The likes of Jordan Amavi, Idrissa Gueye, Joe Bennett, Ciaran Clark, Ashley Westwood, Adama Traore, Carlos Sanchez and Jordan Ayew are all playing top flight football either in England or abroad, whilst Vlila are onto a third managerial appointment since the end of that season.
Much was made of Villa’s perceived poor recruitment, but the fact some of those players are playing well elsewhere suggests they had talent, and Jordan Veretout is yet another case of a former Villa player thriving elsewhere.
The former Nantes star was sent back to France for a loan move to Saint-Etienne in 2016, and then completed a permanent switch to Fiorentina a year later, where he has become one of Serie A’s top midfielders.
Veretout has been linked with Inter Milan already this season, and RMC Sport report that Veretout will now be in the next France squad for the upcoming international break as a first international cap looms for the midfielder.

Veretout was bombed out of Villa after just one season with the club and deemed surplus to requirements in the Championship, but has now proven them wrong by not only becoming a Fiorentina star, but seemingly a France international too.
That has to be hugely embarrassing for Villa, as whilst they have brought in the likes of Glenn Whelan, Mile Jedinak and Henri Lansbury to try and bolster their midfield, they appear to have ended up letting a France international go without much of a fight.
