According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle United striker Aleksandar Mitrovic has been offered to Premier League rivals West Ham United ahead of the January transfer window.

Mitrovic, 23, starred in his native Serbia, hitting 18 goals in 42 games for Partizan Belgrade, before a 2013 move to Anderlecht allowed him to continue his development.

The burly striker notched 44 goals in 90 games for Anderlecht, with Newcastle splashing the cash to sign him in the summer of 2015 – but his time with the Magpies has been up and down so far.

Mitrovic hit nine goals in his first Premier League campaign, but he has struggled to impress Rafael Benitez, scoring just four league goals last season, and just the once this term.

With just one goal this term, no Premier League starts and just six substitute appearances, Mitrovic’s Newcastle career appears to be heading only one way, and the Daily Mail now report that he has been offered to Premier League rivals West Ham United.

It’s unclear whether it’s Mitrovic’s agent or Newcastle themselves who have offered the striker to West Ham, but it seems that the wheels are in motion for a potential January move.

The Hammers have seen Andy Carroll struggle this term, whilst Javier Hernandez is injured and Diafra Sakho’s future remains in doubt, meaning new boss David Moyes may well be looking for a new striker.

Whether he will be keen to bring in a talented yet frustrating forward like Mitrovic – when he already has a player with similar struggles in Marko Arnautovic – remains to be seen, but Newcastle may be hoping to sell him on and fund other moves.
