According to The Athletic, Sean Dyche is a candidate to replace Steve Cooper at Nottingham Forest as the pressure amps up on the Welshman.

Cooper earned Forest their first promotion to the Premier League in over two decades last season, but sadly, the word loyalty has lost any sort of meaning in football these days, and after just eight games, Cooper could be on his way out.

With relegation looming large, Forest need a firefighter through the door, and who better for that role than Dyche?

The former Burnley boss has made a career of keeping unfancied teams in the Premier League, and while he’d have an uphill battle on his hands at Forest, this is a talented squad that could be achieving so much more.

However, unfortunately for Dyche, based on what we’ve heard on his recent podcast appearances with Richard Keys and Andy Gray as well as on the BBC, his main strengths lie in man-management and working with a tight-knit group.

Sadly, this Forest team don’t fit that bill. The Reds signed more than 20 players this summer, and even Dyche would have a job on his hands making this team gel together and building some sort of team spirit.

Although, if any manager is up to taking that challenge, it’s Dyche, the former Burnley boss has never shirked away from any task, no matter how big or small, and while this Forest job would be daunting, this type of challenge may well appeal to Dyche.

It remains to be seen whether or not Forest actually decide to part ways with Cooper, but if they do, the ‘unbelievable’ gaffer would certainly be a decent replacement.
