Aston Villa head coach Unai Emery reportedly wants to sign Real Madrid winger Marco Asensio, a player Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are also keen on.
FootMercato journalist Santi Aouna has reported on Twitter that Aston Villa manager Unai Emery is personally trying to sign Marco Asensio, who is out of contract at Real Madrid at the end of the season and has been linked with Arsenal.
The reporter has claimed that the Spain international, who can also operate as an attacking midfielder, has doubts over joining Villa.
The 27-year-old would prefer to extend his current contract with Madrid.
Aouna has claimed that Villa are also keen on midfielder Daniel Ceballos, who, like Asensio, is out of contract at Madrid at the end of the season.

TEAMtalk reported in March that Arsenal are planning to make an offer to Asensio.
The report claimed interest from Chelsea and Manchester City in the 27-year-old as well.
Arsenal more likely than Aston Villa to sign Marco Asensio
In our view, Arsenal are more likely than Aston Villa to sign Marco Asensio in the summer transfer window.
Real Madrid are arguably the biggest club in the world, and we do not think that the 27-year-old would be too keen on joining a Villa side who will not feature in the UEFA Champions League next season or challenge for the Premier League title in the coming years.
Arsenal have finished second in the Premier League table this season and will compete for the title in the coming years.
