Arsenal reportedly want to sign the Crystal Palace winger.

Wilfried Zaha of Crystal Palace is awarded with the EA SPORTS Player of the Month for April on May 8, 2018 in Beckenham, England.

According to an exclusive report from the Sun, Arsenal boss Unai Emery has pleaded with the club’s board to break the bank for Crystal Palace ace Wilfried Zaha this summer.

It has been well-documented that the Gunners have limited funds to play with this summer – £45 million according to the Sun, and there is a real danger that they could slip into mid-table mediocrity next season, if they fail to strengthen sufficiently.

And the problem for Arsenal is that Zaha will cost at least £55 million, according to the Sun.

The British tabloid claims that Emery will push the Gunners board hard, however, and demand extra funds to sign the Ivory Coast international.

So could Arsenal actually shock everyone and sign the Crystal Palace winger?

The Gunners have a lot of deadwood, and one way of coming up with the funds to sign Zaha would be by selling the likes of Shkodran Mustafi, Carl Jenkinson, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Mohamed Elneny and even Mesut Ozil.

The 26-year-old Palace ace would be an exceptional addition for Arsenal. He possesses pace in abundance and plays with a certain kind of directness that the north London outfit desperately lack in wide areas.

It is still highly doubtful, however, that Arsenal will be able to come up with the funds needed to sign the Ivorian.

If there is a chance to bring Zaha to the Emirates though, Emery must do all that he can to convince the club’s board that the winger is worth every penny of the reported £55 million fee.
