Atletico Madrid have reportedly set their sights on Celtic defender Josip Juranovic, with the Spanish giants keen on signing a new right-back this summer.
According to Sky Sports News via GSFN, the UEFA Champions League regulars have been impressed by Juranovic’s performances last season, with the Croatian international enjoying a brilliant debut year with Celtic after being signed by Ange Postecoglou as the Hoops won the Scottish Premiership title.
With fellow Croat Sime Vrsaljko set to join Greek giants Olympiacos, Atletico’s need for a right-back is understandable, with Diego Simeone’s side still feeling the impact of Kieran Trippier’s departure in the January window to Newcastle United, and Juranovic could now be on his way to Madrid.
The 26-year-old has already been linked with a move away from Celtic this summer, and with Atletico now interested in signing Juranovic, the Bhoys could be pushed into an inescapable corner when it comes to their star fullback.
After all, whilst Celtic will be competing in the Champions League next season, the allure of playing for a club as big as Atletico will be great for Juranovic, who could be a solid signing for the European giants if the La Liga side make a move for the defender.
Moreover, Postecoglou has proven to be a great spotter of talent, with the Australian manager’s signings last summer transforming Celtic into an exciting squad that dominated the SPL, meaning that replacing Juranovic could be an easier task than imagined if the defender departs for Atletico.
Celtic should allow Juranovic to sign for Atletico

Juranovic was a star for Celtic last season, with the fullback playing over 40 games for the Hoops as the Glasgow giants reclaimed their throne at the top of the Scottish footballing pyramid, and if Atletico make an offer for the defender, the Croatian international should be allowed to leave.
Indeed, Celtic could make a tidy profit from Juranovic, who was only signed one year ago, and with a club as big as Atletico now interested, the defender himself will be keen to move to Spain to prove his quality with one of Europe’s most established sides.
