Rodrigo Vilca and Dan Langley are training with Newcastle United’s first team during the international break, according to The Chronicle.
With a number of key players embarking on trips across the world this week, Magpies boss Steve Bruce has seized the opportunity to check out some of the most exciting young talent pushing for a place in his senior ranks.
And the ongoing absence of Martin Dubravka has given one teenage goalkeeper an opportunity to catch the eye.
Langley is only 19 but stands at 6ft 7in. He was snapped up by his boyhood club after a series of rejections and a spell in Sunday League but is clearly highly rated at St James’ Park.
However, as Freddie Woodman will tell you, it isn’t easy for a promising young shot-stopper to force their way into Newcastle’s first team.
Dubravka is one of the finest glovesmen in the top flight on his day, while Karl Darlow has been so impressive during the Slovakian’s absence some have suggested an England call-up beckons.
Mark Gillespie also impressed in the Carabao Cup, at least until a horrible blunder against Newport County.

The Chronicle adds that Vilca, the 21-year-old playmaker who arrived from Peru last week in a bargain £210,000 deal, has also been catching Bruce’s eye in training.
Vilca was initially expected to play for Newcastle U21s but a player with his creativity, poise and eye for goal will always be welcomed by the Magpies boss – particularly after Bruce revealed plans to transition towards a more attacking style of football.
The report does add, however, that Vilca is likely be omitted from Newcastle’s Premier League squad until Janaury.
