A report in The Athletic has outlined what could be in store for Tottenham players Danny Rose and Paulo Gazzaniga in the January transfer window.

Unsurprisingly, Gazzaniga and Rose are free to leave the club in January, but whether or not they can find a transfer remains to be seen.

We saw in the Amazon Prime Documentary that came out in the summer that Rose has been out of the equation for some time at Spurs, while the arrival of Joe Hart has seemingly pushed Gazzaniga out of the picture.

Finding a move for Rose may be rather difficult, after all, he was in the same position this time last year and the club could only broker an ill-fated loan move to Newcastle.

Gazzaniga, however, shouldn’t be short of suitors, there were reportedly plenty of interested sides in the summer, and at his age, he still has years of Premier League football ahead of him.

Spurs have something of a bloated squad at the moment, especially in the goalkeeper and left-back positions, so the fact that these two could soon find themselves plying their trade elsewhere isn’t too much of a surprise.

Whether or not getting Gazzaniga and Rose off of the wage bill will be crucial to any incomings in north London remains to be seen, but shifting their moderately-sized pay packets will certainly help free up some funds for Jose Mourinho’s reported pursuit of a new centre-back.

This is a story that’s certainly worth keeping an eye on throughout next month.
