According to 90min, Rangers could lose James Tavernier and Nathan Patterson to England as Premier League clubs circle.

What’s the story?

Well, 90min believe that Manchester United want to sign Patterson, as they look to replace Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

However, Tavernier was considered over the summer too, and is still an option for the Red Devils if they decide to come shopping at Ibrox.

The 29-year-old seems to be an alternative to Patterson, however.

Speaking of Patterson, 90min add that Everton are still keeping tabs on the 19-year-old, after expressing interest in the summer.

In fact, the Toffees even submitted a £5m bid for the teenager (Mirror).

Rangers obviously won’t want to lose one of the pair, let alone both of them.

However – as The Athletic detailed – Rangers aren’t the richest club around after failing to make the Champions League, so Steven Gerrard might need to offload some assets.

This is hardly an ideal situation for Gerrard and Rangers.

Manchester United and Everton are established Premier League clubs, who definitely have the money to poach Tavernier and Patterson.

It’s certainly going to be a concern for Gerrard to see his two right-backs being targeted by Premier League clubs.

In our view, the Gers need to start safeguarding that position.

If both Tavernier and Patterson turn around and ask to leave, Rangers will need to have names on the shortlist to replace them.

Players come and go, that’s football. All the Bears can do now is ensure it doesn’t leave a gaping hole in Gerrard’s squad, if both do leave, that is.
