The Ivorian international is not currently in the first-team plans at Newcastle.
Newcastle’s Cheick Tiote is substituted as manager Rafael Benitez looks on
The agent of Newcastle United midfielder Cheick Tiote has not given up hope of securing his client a move away from St James’ Park this month – despite the transfer window shutting on a potential exit.
The Ivorian saw moves to both Galatasaray and Olympiakos fail to materialise on deadline day and he is now facing a season of watching the Toon from the sidelines.
But a report from the Northern Echo is suggesting that Tiote may still be on his way out of the club – with teams in Qatar the potential destination.
Newcastle United’s Cheick Tiote celebrates scoring a goal which is later disallowed
It is reported that Tiote’s representatives have contacted both Al Ahli and Al Sadd regarding a move to the Middle East.
The transfer window in Qatar does not close until the 22nd September. Barcelona legend Xavi currently plays for Al Sadd, so that would no doubt appeal to the Newcastle midfield enforcer.
Tiote has not played for Newcastle at all this season and only featured 22 times in the 2015-16 campaign as Newcastle were relegated to the Championship.
His future clearly lies elsewhere and hopefully his agent can facilitate a harmonious exit from Newcastle United.
