Sheffield Wednesday defender Tom Lees is being courted by two Premier League clubs and one in the Championship, according to the Sheffield Star.

HITC Sport reported earlier this month that Burnley were preparing a move for the 25-year-old as a replacement for Michael Keane, the subject of an eight-figure bid from Leicester City.

And the Clarets are said to have maintained their interest, whether Keane is sold or not.

But Sean Dyche’s side could be rivalled in their Lees pursuit, according to the Star, which reports additional yet unidentified interest from the Premier League and Championship.

Lees has excelled in his two seasons at Hillsborough, with Wednesday narrowly missing out on promotion via the play-offs last month, and is under contract until 2019.

Interest in the former Leeds United man is nothing new, with Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Norwich City all linked since 2015 (Star).

However, Norwich added Timm Klose in January, while Villa recently convinced Bournemouth captain Tommy Elphick to drop to the Championship.

Newcastle, though, who the Chronicle reports hope to add a centre-half to their ranks by the end of the week, are yet to strengthen in Lees’ position, despite allowing Steven Taylor to leave this summer.
