Henry Mauriss believes that he could complete a takeover of Newcastle United in just three weeks, according to the Daily Mirror.

Newcastle have been on the verge of being brought out for months now, with Saudi-based investors keen to buy the club.

However, the Magpies have still have not had the buy-out officially confirmed by the Premier League.

Mauriss is now taking a keen eye on developments, and it is believed that if the takeover does fall through, he may make his own bid.

Mauriss apparently feels that any takeover with him at the head of it would go far more smoothly and prove to be far less controversial.

And his lawyers have reportedly claimed that Newcastle could be under new ownership very swiftly, if he does put a bid together for the club.

Whether Mauriss will get the chance to lodge a bid for Newcastle remains to be seen though.

Despite lengthy delays, Newcastle’s potential Saudi owners are eventually expected to be given the green-light to take charge.

Newcastle supporters are generally desperate for the takeover to go ahead, as Mike Ashley has been heavily criticised during his time in charge.

There is hope around St. James’ Park that they will show far more ambition under new ownership and become a real force once again.
