Trabzonspor are reportedly keen to land Enner Valencia on loan.
Enner Valencia celebrates scoring for West Ham
According to Turkish newspaper Yeni Safak, Trabzonspor are launching a loan bid for West Ham United striker Enner Valencia – just two years after he joined the club.
Valencia, 25, was predominantly a winger with Mexican outfit Pachuca, but he was pressed into action as a striker for Ecuador at the 2014 World Cup – and that proved to be Valencia’s big break.
Valencia scored all three of Ecuador’s goals in Brazil, impressing with his pace and aerial ability – and he earned a move to West Ham shortly after the tournament ended, with BBC Sport reporting that the Hammers paid a huge £12m to secure him
The striker showed some promise in his first season with the Hammers, scoring five goals in 37 games, buy he failed to kick on under Slaven Bilic and drifted in and out of the team, scoring just five goals again.
Now, with West Ham searching for new strikers this summer, Valencia’s future is in some doubt – and a potential suitor has emerged.
Turkish newspaper Yeni Safak report that Trabzonspor are keen on Valencia and want to take him on a season-long loan deal with a view to a permanent move in a year’s time.
Ersun Yanal’s men are looking for attacking additions to support Oscar Cardozo and Muhammet Demir, and Valencia is allegedly seen as the ideal candidate.
It remains to be seen whether West Ham would allow Valencia to leave on loan having splashed out £12m on him just two years ago, with manager Bilic needing funds to sign a new striker of his own.
With West Ham’s striker search hitting a dead end so far, they may well rather wait until they get at least one new striker in before letting Valencia leave – but they appear to have an interested club if they do choose to let the Ecuadorian leave this summer.
