Fenerbahce have reportedly established talks over the loan signing of Sunderland midfielder Jeremain Lens.
According to reports from Turkish outlet Haberturk, Fenerbahce have established contacts regarding the acquisition of Jeremain Lens.
Sunderland splashed the cash to secure the services of Lens from Dynamo Kyiv at the start of last season but it has to be said that the investment has not quite reaped dividends.
Due to injury problems as well as inconsistency, Lens was limited to only 20 appearances in the Premier League and there has been widespread speculation this summer that the Dutch international could well be leaving the Stadium of Light.
New Sunderland boss David Moyes has handed Lens only 44 minutes of action so far this season and it seemingly looks like the 28-year-old does not feature in the long-term plans of the Scotsman.
As a result, Lens leaving Sunderland has been seen as a distinct possibility and recently the Sunderland Echo had claimed that former Black Cats’ boss Dick Advocaat is keen on reuniting with the attacker at Fenerbahce.
Now in an update, Turkish outlet Haberturk have gone on to reveal that Fenerbahce have already established contacts with Lens’ representatives over a prospective season-long loan deal for the former PSV Eindhoven star.
Advocaat was the man who brought Lens to Sunderland and his move to Turkey could well prove to be beneficial for all parties involved.
