West Bromwich Albion target Troy Deeney’s relationship with Watford boss Walter Mazzarri has reportedly broken down.

A report in the Daily Mail has suggested that Troy Deeney may be starting to feel pushed towards the Watford exit after falling out with Walter Mazzarri, days after West Brom were linked with a summer bid.

The Mail reports that Deeney was unhappy to be left on the bench for the defeat to Tottenham and disagreed with the manager’s reasons for the decision.

According to the Mail, Deeney now endures a tense relationship with Mazzarri, so perhaps recent reports involving West Brom would be of greater interest to the Hornets skipper.

The Daily Mirror reported at the start of the month that the Baggies had made Deeney – who scored in the recent meeting between the two sides – their number one target for the summer, and were ready to make a £20 million bid for the forward, while also handing him a better deal than the £50,000 a week contract he has at Vicarage Road.

While Deeney’s attachment to Watford would have probably previously made a move difficult, news of his apparent discontent working under the Italian may perhaps make him think differently about a potential switch to the Hawthorns if Mazzarri remains at the club beyond the end of the season.

And while it would surely be too soon to suggest that Deeney’s relationship with Mazzarri is damaged beyond repair, this latest update may leave West Brom monitoring the situation between now and the end of the campaign even closer.
