Aston Villa are seemingly close to making a ninth summer signing.

It looked for a while that Douglas Luiz would be Aston Villa’s ninth summer signing.
The Villans are still expected to sign the 21-year-old Manchester City starlet in a £15 million deal [The Telegraph] but, in the mean time, another man might have reportedly joined by then.
According to The Telegraph, Aston Villa have agreed an £8.75 million deal with Turkish side Kasimpasa for Egypt international Trezeguet – the ninth man to potentially join Dean Smith’s side in recent months.
Trezeguet will undergo a medical this weekend ahead of moving to the newly-promoted Premier League side.
The report adds that Luiz, a Brazilian, could be announced over the coming days after he met up with his would-be teammates in the United States a little earlier this week, but work permit issues have delayed it.
What a stunning summer it’s been for Aston Villa, whose spending has already hit the £100 million-mark, according to Sky Sports.
The addition of Bjorn Engels, the fourth centre-back to join Smith’s team this summer, took their spending to nine figures earlier in the week.
When all is said and done, Smith might have spent a very healthy £123 million in total – and who’s to say that another name won’t be arriving at Bodymoor Heath in the final couple weeks of the window?
