Spurs’ Premier League starlet Josh Onomah is reportedly a target for German duo Borussia Monchengladbach and Hoffenheim.

Tottenham Hotspur lost one of their most exciting young talents in the summer when Keanan Bennetts left North London for Borussia Monchengladbach.

Just six months later, The Sun is now reporting that the Bundesliga side are planning another raid on Mauricio Pochettino’s squad with Josh Onomah the latest homegrown youngster to find himself in demand over in Germany.

The England U21 international came through Spurs’ academy and forced his way into the first team during the 2015/16 season.

But Onomah’s progress has stalled recently thanks to underwhelming loan spells at Aston Villa and Sheffield Wednesday, casting doubt on his long-term future in North London with his contract due to expire in 18 months’ time.

The Sun reports that Monchengladbach, who also signed Reece Oxford on loan from West Ham last season, are hoping to take full advantage.

Hoffenheim are also understood to be interested, perhaps encouraged by Reiss Nelson’s outstanding form under Julian Nagelsmann since he arrived on a temporary basis from Tottenham’s North London rivals Arsenal.

It is understood that Gladbach want Onomah to replace the £25 million-rated Swiss international Denis Zakaria who, strangely enough, was linked to Tottenham by Sky Sports this month.

Could a swap deal be on the cards?

Denis Zakaria is seen during a training session at Borussia Moenchengladbach Training Camp on January 10, 2019 in Jerez, Spain.
