Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Mousa Dembele is still expected to leave in 2019.
According to Calciomercato, Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Mousa Dembele has offered himself to Inter Milan – but may still choose to stay in North London.
Spurs were expected to bring in new signings over the summer but ultimately failed, and didn’t even offload some of the players Mauricio Pochettino was seemingly open to selling.
Toby Alderweireld and Danny Rose were two of those players, whilst experienced midfielder Dembele was another, with the Belgian’s contract set to expire at the end of the season.
Dembele was linked with a host of clubs but didn’t move on, and given that he can sign a pre-contract agreement with another club in January, an exit is still expected.
Now, Calciomercato report that Dembele has offered himself to Inter Milan, and whilst it’s more likely that his representatives are involved in such a claim, this isn’t the first time Dembele has been linked with Italian clubs.
Juventus and Napoli were both linked with signing Dembele over the summer, but now Inter – fresh from landing a free agent bargain in Stefan de Vrij – could swoop for the 31-year-old in 2019.
Dembele has blown hot and cold this season, and whilst he could move on to Tottenham’s Champions League opponents Inter, it is claimed that he remains open to staying with Spurs.
It seems unlikely that Tottenham will offer him a new deal though with concerns about his age, fitness and consistency, with Dembele – or his entourage – keen to see what Inter can offer according to reports.
