Tottenham Hotspur defender Juan Foyth could be in line for a first international cap.

According to reports from Diario Hoy in Argentina, Tottenham defender Juan Foyth is set to be called up by Argentina for the first time in October.
Foyth, 20, starred for Argentina at the Under-20 World Cup in 2017, and that – along with a few strong performances for Estudiantes – tempted Tottenham into signing him before the August deadline that summer.
In just over a year at Spurs, Foyth has only made eight appearances for the club, and none of them have come in the Premier League as Mauricio Pochettino takes a patient approach with his compatriot.
Foyth suffered an injury over the summer and hasn’t played at all, but he is now set for a huge moment, as Diario Hoy report that Foyth is set to be called up by Argentina’s senior side for the first time for their October fixtures against Iraq and Brazil, with a first cap potentially imminent.
Caretaker manager Lionel Scaloni – a former West Ham defender – has come into the job following Jorge Sampaoli’s sacking after the World Cup, and is bringing in new faces to an ageing squad.

Defenders Walter Kannemann and Alan Franco were handed their first call-ups earlier this month, and now Foyth looks set to follow suit despite never making a league appearance for Tottenham.
Foyth is billed as a future mainstay of the Argentina defence, but Scaloni is set to hand him a career-changing moment already, and Pochettino will hope that such a huge point in his career can give him the confidence and belief to go on and become a star for Spurs.
