Tottenham Hotspur have previously tried to sign the star, and while they are still interested, it appears that Liverpool, and perhaps Everton are more keen.

A report in the Daily Mirror has suggested that Tottenham’s interest in Schalke starlet Max Meyer has cooled, but Liverpool have now joined Everton in the race for his signature.
The Mirror reports that Spurs wanted to sign the 21-year-old last summer and made an official approach for the forward, but were unable to get a deal done as the Bundesliga side held out for £45 million.
Despite Meyer now approaching the final year of his contract, the Mirror reports that Spurs are less keen on pursuing a move for the Germany international, seemingly leaving the path much clearer for Jurgen Klopp to try and bring the youngster to Anfield or for Ronald Koeman to persuade him to Everton.
According to the Mirror, Tottenham have cooled their interest and decided to target Ross Barkley because they feel that Meyer’s best position is already taken by Dele Alli within Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Interestingly however, Liverpool are optimistic that they can now get a deal done for just £14 million at the end of the season, with the Mirror reporting that the attacker heading into the final year of his contract has put Schalke in a tricky position.
If the Reds can conclude a deal for that kind of fee, it would surely be worth the gamble despite Meyer’s disappointing form in the top flight this season, where he has scored once and contributed no assists in 22 games.
