According to a report from the Daily Mail, West Ham are weighing up whether they want to make a late attempt to sign Fernando Llorente from Tottenham in the final hours of the transfer window.

Manuel Pellegrini has been able to enjoy a remarkably busy window that has left many backing West Ham for a much better season than last year when they spent much of their time flirting with the bottom three in the Premier League.

However, signing a striker appears to remain on Pellegrini’s wishlist, and the Daily Mail is now reporting that Spurs ace Llorente is one of the forwards that the Hammers have their eye on. And it seems that Mauricio Pochettino could be willing to sanction the Spaniard’s exit before the deadline.

The Mail reports that Llorente could be allowed to leave on loan or on a permanent basis – they are said to want £7 million for the 33-year-old, who only arrived at Tottenham from Swansea City last summer.

Llorente has endured a fairly miserable time with Spurs thus far, having scored just one Premier League goal. However, he was extremely impressive during his time with the Swans and always faced a difficult task with Tottenham given that he only tended to come in when Harry Kane was injured or rested.

It is perhaps too great a gamble to spend £7 million on signing Llorente permanently, but it seems to appear a very decent option for the Hammers to try and pursue a loan deal for the former Juventus ace.

But with Tottenham not exactly boasting an enormous amount of depth in the striker department, it will be interesting to see whether Pochettino has any plans to get another forward in himself before he leaves the path clear for Llorente to move on if the Irons confirm their interest with a bid.
