According to the Daily Mail, Everton are unlikely to convince Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose to make a move to Goodison Park this summer.
The Toffees are set for another big summer, having sacked manager Sam Allardyce and director of football Steve Walsh, with PSV Eindhoven’s Marcel Brands brought in to replace the latter.
A new manager hasn’t yet been appointed, but the new man – expected to be Marco Silva – will be working alongside Brands to plug holes in the Everton side, such as finding a left back to succeed Leighton Baines.
Tottenham Hotspur’s Danny Rose has been a name linked with a move to Merseyside in recent days, but the Daily Mail report that such a move is ‘unlikely’ this summer.
Rose, 27, was a star under Mauricio Pochettino before a difficult campaign this term, and many believed that the England international – in line to feature at this summer’s World Cup – would be sold on this summer.
However, Rose now appears to be running out of options. Doncaster-born Rose has mentioned his desire to move back up North soon, but after just nine Premier League starts this season, Manchester United are unlikely to be keen.
The same goes for Manchester City, who have Benjamin Mendy returning to fitness, whilst Liverpool don’t need a left back with Andrew Robertson starring, and Newcastle United would receive a similar response to Everton.
There are few realistic options in the North for Rose now, and whilst a local rival such as Chelsea could bid, the most likely outcome may be that Rose stays with Tottenham for the foreseeable future.
