Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly failed with a move for Ivan Perisic.

According to claims from Sky Italia, Inter Milan have snubbed an approach from Tottenham Hotspur for Croatian winger Ivan Perisic.
Spurs are in the market for a new winger ahead of Wednesday’s transfer deadline, and whilst Sky Sports report that deals for Marseille’s Georges-Kevin Nkoudou and Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha are in the pipeline, Mauricio Pochettino appears to have other targets in mind too.
Sky Italia report that Tottenham have made an approach to sign Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic – but the Serie A side have knocked back Spurs’ move for the player.
Perisic, 27, was one of the stars of Euro 2016 having turned in a host of superb performances for Croatia, and it’s no surprise to see him generate major interest off the back of those displays.
The former Borussia Dortmund man joined Inter from Wolfsburg last summer, and hit nine goals for the Italian giants last season, whilst notching six assists in Serie A too.
This summer, Perisic scored against Tottenham in a pre-season friendly, and now, manager Pochettino appears to be keen on luring him to White Hart Lane, where he could follow in the footsteps of international team-mates Vedran Corluka and Luka Modric in signing for Spurs.
Inter have so far rejected Tottenham’s approach to sign Perisic, with new manager Frank de Boer unsurprisingly keen to keep his top players at the San Siro – and it remains to be seen whether Spurs return with another move for Perisic before Wednesday’s transfer deadline.
A pacey, direct winger with a great work ethic, Perisic would be an ideal signing for Tottenham, but a proven player of his quality would certainly set Spurs back financially, and prudent chairman Daniel Levy may not be so willing to fork out big money for a player who will turn 28 in February.
