Davinson Sanchez would be open to leaving Tottenham Hotspur in January, if the right option came up for him, the Athletic claim.

Sanchez has found his game time at Tottenham restricted this term, with Jose Mourinho preferring other options.

There is a feeling that Sanchez is now fourth choice central defender at Spurs, with summer signing Joe Rodon ahead of him in the pecking order.

And it seems that Sanchez would be prepared to depart Tottenham to try and revive his career.

Although the Athletic do say the transfer is unlikely, as Spurs would want a replacement signed before they considered selling Sanchez, the possibility of an exit can no longer be ruled out.

If the Colombian was to depart the transfer may be looked upon with a degree of regret.

Sanchez was Tottenham’s record signing when he was brought to the club for £42 million back in 2017 (Guardian), but he has never really been able to kick on.

Sanchez has not developed at the rate many were expecting, and his tendency to make errors has never been removed from his game.

With Jose Mourinho demanding high standards from his defenders, Sanchez hasn’t quite been able to live up to the requirements at Tottenham this season.

And it could be that the 24-year-old is now on borrowed time in North London, unless his performances drastically improve.
